Majestic – backlink checker
The purpose of checking the backlink history for a domain is to determine if those links are spammy or not. For example, if the domain has 1,500 links and the domain where the link is located (the referring domain) is in another language or is a questionable source, then these links are considered poor quality and could interfere with rankings.
