SEO Map SOP
1.Determine Exclusivity
Here are the basic guidelines:
Exclusivity applies to the city in which the client’s business is located.
If the address is in a very small town that is within about 10 miles of a larger town, then the client may have exclusivity for the larger one.
Example: John Henry is located in New Melle, MO population 475. He gets exclusivity for Wentzville, MO population 41,784.
If the address is in a suburb of a large metropolitan area, then the client has exclusivity for that city only. For Example, Tony Mayorga is located in Aurora, CO population 325,078. He does not have exclusivity for Denver.
Exclusivity applies to the client’s primary service.
If the client offers two or more closely related services then exclusivity applies to all. For example:
Carpet cleaning and restoration. Pressure washing and window cleaning.
This will need to be applied on a case by case basis.
- Add Client Info to SEO Map
This will be done by the project manager at the beginning of the design process. For SEO only clients it will be done in the SEO set-up
Be sure that the box next to “SEO clients” is checked.
Enter the city in the search bar and click on it. Click “add to map”. Click on “edit” (pencil icon) and add the state code, client name, and service(s).
Example: Lincoln NE- Elijah Aden (Pressure Washing)
- Double-check the map as part of the SEO set-up process. This will ensure that nothing is missed and that SEO only clients are added.
Target Cities
Some clients will have “target cities” included in their SEO contract. There will be an additional cost for this. Exclusivity applies only to those cities that are part of an ongoing SEO payment. ( a client can have a basic “city page” on their website without exclusivity)
Exclusivity will be determined by the Web Design Director and added to the map.
Here is the procedure for adding target cities to the map:
Uncheck the box next to “SEO clients”
Be sure that the box next to “ Target Cities” is checked
Enter the city in the search bar and click on it. Click “add to map”. Click on “style” (paint can icon) and select the color red (this will change the color of the pin and identify it as a “target city”). Click on “edit” (pencil icon) and add the state code, client name, and service(s).
Example: Redondo Beach-Lars Crampton (Carpet Cleaning, Restoration)
Procedure for Cancellation
This will be done as part of the SEO cancellation process.
Go to https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?mid=1eUsk_X1sEEt9lFeVYx_DnA0Sj3VIono1&ll=40.71745910806824%2C-100.3952095468401&z=5
Enter the client’s NAME in the search bar. This will bring up all of the cities and services for which the client has exclusivity. Click on the location(s) that is(are) to be removed and select “delete feature” (trash can icon)
